# Play with real B3

What changes when you pick with real B3 instead of free play credits. The 18+ terms, regions, how Basement holds your B3 and the play-once rule.

You can pick winners with real B3 instead of play credits. The rounds, payouts and rules stay the same, but a B3 pick is a real bet: if your side loses, the B3 you staked is gone.

Real B3 is for adults 18 and over. It needs a sign-in and the in-app terms, and whether it's offered depends on where you are. Play credits stay free, and they never turn into B3.

## What B3 is and how Basement holds it

B3 is a crypto token on Base, and its value goes up and down. In Basement it's the real-money currency for picks and Drops. For the token itself, see [B3's docs](https://docs.b3.fun).

B3 token contract on Base:

When you deposit, you send B3 on Base to your own Basement address, and Basement moves it into its vault, a contract on Base. Basement's ledger records how much of it is yours. That's why you can pick with B3 without a wallet prompt or paying gas each time. Basement holds this B3 for you and runs your deposit address, so it's a custodial balance. When you withdraw, it goes to an address you added. [Vault and reserves](/b3/vault-and-reserves) covers who controls the vault and how to check it.

## Before you start

You need all of these before you can deposit, pick or drop with B3:

- You're signed in, with an email code, a passkey or Google. See [Sign in](/b3/sign-in).
- You've accepted the terms in the app. They're eight short lines, shown once per version, and you tick **I'm 18 or older and accept these terms** to continue. If the terms change, you're asked again.
- B3 is offered where you are. See [Availability](/b3/availability).

One rule to know before you deposit. B3 you deposit has to be played once before you can withdraw it. Every B3 pick and paid B3 Drop counts toward that the moment you place it, win or lose, and winnings can be withdrawn any time. [Withdraw B3](/b3/withdraw) has the details.

## Picking with B3

B3 picks work like [picks with play credits](/play/picks). The amounts are different. Today:

| | Play credits | B3 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Smallest pick | 10 | 10 |
| Largest pick | 50,000 | Up to 100,000 |
| Pick sizes | Any whole number | Multiples of 10 |
| A Drop after your free ones | 200 | 50 |

Your first 3 [Drops](/play/drops) each day (UTC) are free in either currency. B3 picks come in steps of 10 so every payout is an exact number of B3.

Once a deposit lands, your picks switch to B3. To switch between B3 and play credits, tap the second coin next to your balance at the top of the screen.

Your B3 stake works like your play-credit stake: the amount you chose stays the amount, and a deposit or a win never raises it by itself. See [how picks work](/play/picks#your-stake-stays-where-you-put-it).

On a computer, no key spends B3 unless you allow it. Enter only places a B3 pick once you turn on the switch in the Keyboard panel, and the D key never throws a B3 Drop. Until then, a B3 pick or Drop takes a click. See [keyboard shortcuts](/play/keyboard-shortcuts#real-b3-and-the-keyboard).

100,000 B3 is the most Basement ever takes on one pick. What it can take right now is often less, because every B3 pick has to be covered in full by the B3 the house holds. If a pick is too big, you see "B3 picks are full right now. Try a smaller one." and nothing is taken.

## Who pays when you win

Basement's house account pays winning picks, and losing stakes go to it. Payouts are fixed before the round and include a 5% house margin. A two-way match pays 1.9x where an even split would pay 2x, a four-way match pays 3.8x instead of 4x, and a six-kart race pays 5.7x instead of 6x.

Every side starts a round with an equal chance. So over many picks, expect to get back about 95% of what you stake, and any single pick can lose all of it. Players don't get a share of what the house takes.

## Before your first B3 pick

**Before you play with B3**

**You've played a few rounds with play credits first**
**You've picked an amount of B3 you can afford to lose, and you'll stop there**
**You're 18 or older and B3 games are legal where you live**
**You know a deposit has to be played once before it can be withdrawn**

The last line of the in-app terms is "Only play with what you can afford to lose". Read [Play responsibly](/help/play-responsibly) before your first deposit.
