How Drops work
Tap Drop in a live round to send a random boost or hazard at a random competitor. What Drops cost, when they're refunded and what Kingmaker means.
You don't choose what a Drop is or who it hits. The server picks both at random, and everyone watching sees it land.
How a Drop works
While a match is Live, tap the lightning bolt on the right of the card. On a computer, click Drop under the stage, or press D while you're playing with play credits. The server then picks:
- the kind of Drop: speed, shield or chaos, each equally likely
- the target: any competitor, each equally likely
The Drop lands 0.6 seconds later. A beam of light marks the target, a box falls in, and a note at the top of the card says who sent it. You see "You dropped Kraken on Valk"; everyone else sees your @handle.
Because the kind and the target are random, a Drop can help the side you picked or hurt it. Drops are tuned to shift a side's chances by about 5 to 20 percentage points. One Drop alone isn't meant to settle a round.

Drops in each game
Each game has its own version of the three kinds. The game pages explain what each one does.
| Game | Speed | Shield | Chaos |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rush Hour | Nitro | Bubble | Oil slick |
| Clash | Power glove | Bubble | Banana |
| Neon Knockout | Power glove | Bubble | Banana |
| Broadside | Tailwind | Patch | Kraken |
| Skyball | Rocket boots | Force field | Freeze ray |
| Turf War | Reinforcements | Rally | Airstrike |
What Drops cost
Your first 3 Drops each day are free, in any game. They reset at 00:00 UTC, and Rewards shows how many are left under Free drops, like "2 of 3 · new in 6h 45m".
After that, each Drop costs 200 play credits, or 50 B3 if you're playing with B3. The two are separate balances, and play credits never turn into B3. A B3 Drop has the same requirements as a B3 pick: you're signed in, you've accepted the terms as an adult 18 or over, and B3 is offered where you are. See how real B3 works. On a computer, the D key never throws a Drop while you're playing with B3, not even a free one, so every B3 Drop takes a click.
While you still have free Drops, the caption under the button counts how many you can send in that round, like "2 left". Once the free ones are used up, it shows the price instead. It reads "0 left" after you've sent 2 in a round.
Limits and timing
- Each account can send 2 Drops per round. A third try says "2 drops per round".
- Each round takes 8 Drops in total. After that you'll see "No more drops this round".
- Drops only work while the match is live. Before GO, a tap says "Drops open at GO" with a countdown. Between rounds it says "Drops open when the round is live".
- Drops close 3 seconds before the game's time cap. A tap after that says "Too late for this round".
When a Drop is refunded
- If the arena turns a Drop down, you get it back straight away.
- If the match ends before your Drop lands, it's refunded when the round settles. The result says so, for example "Your Nitro missed the finish · 200 back", or "free drop back" for a free one.
- If the round is void, every Drop in it is refunded.
A refunded free Drop goes back into your free Drops for the day.
Kingmaker
A Kingmaker is a Drop that decided the match. A Drop counts when all of these are true:
- One side was clearly ahead before it: by 18 points of win chance in a two-sided game, 9 in a four-way game, or 6 in Rush Hour.
- The Drop hit that leader or the side that went on to win.
- The winner took the lead within 2 seconds of the Drop landing, in the last third of the round, and kept it to the end.
There's at most one Kingmaker per round, named at the finish with Kingmaker and the sender's @handle. Rewards counts yours for the week, which starts on Monday (UTC), and the leaderboard shows counts next to players. If you share a round you decided, its link preview reads "My drop flipped it".
Next steps
Paid Drops spend credits or B3 the same way a pick does, so count them in your budget.
