A pick is your call on who wins a round. You make it before GO, from the strip at the bottom of a card or the bet slip on a computer, with play credits or real B3. If your side wins, you get a fixed payout that includes your stake.

Note

Play credits are free and never turn into B3. A B3 pick is a real bet that you can lose, and it's only for adults 18 and over where B3 is offered. See how real B3 works.

What each game pays

The payout is the number of sides times 0.95, and it includes your stake.

GameSidesPaysA 100 pick that wins comes back as
Neon Knockout, Skyball, Turf War21.9x190
Clash, Broadside43.8x380
Rush Hour65.7x570

So a 500 pick on a two-sided game pays 950 if it wins: your 500 back plus 450. Payouts round down to a whole number.

The payouts carry a 5% house margin. An even two-way pick would pay 2x; Basement pays 1.9x. The payout is fixed when you pick, and how the crowd picks never changes it.

Every side starts with the same chance. Starting spots and roles are shuffled from the round's seed, which is locked before picks open. See provably fair.

Make a pick

Tap a side, choose a stake chip, then tap Bet. The stake chips are 1%, 5% and 10% of your balance in round numbers, plus Max. Play credits start on the 5% chip and B3 on the 1% chip. The app remembers the chip you used last, except Max, which only lasts for that visit.

While a match is live, the strip folds to an Up next pill for the round after. In a two-sided game you can tap a face on the pill to open the picker with that side already picked.

On a computer the bet slip on the right works the same way, and each stake chip shows what it pays back if it wins. Number keys pick a side, the arrow keys move the stake and Enter places a play-credit bet. See keyboard shortcuts.

In the app you make one pick per round. Once it's in, the strip shows your side, your stake and what it pays. It counts down to GO, then stays with you while the match plays.

Your stake stays where you put it

The amount you chose is the amount Bet sends, for the rest of your visit, while your balance moves under it. Chips are shares of your balance, so after a win or a loss the chip you tapped may stand for a different number. The app keeps your amount instead:

  • If a chip still comes to the amount you chose, that chip stays chosen, whatever share it is now.
  • If none does, the largest chip under your amount is chosen. It goes back up to your amount when your balance allows, and never above it.
  • Max stays chosen only while your balance is no bigger than when you chose it. If your balance grows, the stake becomes the largest chip under that old Max and stays a plain amount from then on, so your whole balance only goes on a pick again if you tap Max again.
  • The one exception: when even the smallest chip is bigger than your amount, the smallest chip is chosen.

So with 10,000 credits and the 500 chip, a dip to 4,000 offers 250, and back at 10,000 it's 500 again. A win or a deposit never raises your stake by itself. Tapping a chip sets a new amount. B3 works the same way, kept apart from play credits.

You might also see one of these:

  • "That's enough picks for this round." One account can hold 10 picks in a round, which only comes up if you play from several tabs or devices.
  • "This round is full. Try a smaller pick." Each round has a cap on how much it can pay out in total.
  • "B3 picks are full right now. Try a smaller one." B3 picks are paid from Basement's own B3, so the largest one it takes right now depends on how much B3 the house holds. See how real B3 works.

Win, loss or void

OutcomeWhat happensWhat the result says
WinThe payout lands in your balance when the round settles."+450" and "950 back" for a 500 pick at 1.9x
LossYour stake is gone. One line, such as "−100 · Toxic lost"
VoidThe round had no winner. Your stake comes back in full."Round void, stakes refunded"

How a round works lists what makes a round void.

Bets in the bottom bar opens My bets, your last 50 picks. On a computer it's the My bets tab at the top. A win shows what it added, a loss what it took, and a void reads Refunded. Each pick that won or lost has a Replay.

You can't cancel a pick

Once you tap Bet, the pick stands until the round settles. There's no way to cancel it, before GO or after. A shaky connection won't double it, though. Each tap is sent with its own key, so a retry places the pick once. While the app checks, your pick shows "checking".

If you run out of credits

When your play balance can't cover the smallest pick, the stake chips make way for your daily refill: Claim 1,000 free (or that day's amount) when it's ready, or Refill in 6h until it is. When you're playing with B3 and run low, the button offers Bet with play credits. Play credits lists every way to get more.
