Basement runs in your browser, and you can add it to your home screen like an app. It then opens full screen, in portrait, straight to the feed. Installing adds the web app itself, so there's no separate download.

What installing gets you

  • An icon on your home screen named bsmnt.
  • A full-screen view with no browser bars, opening on the feed.
  • A faster start. The app's frame and the game posters are saved on your phone, so it shows up at once. Matches are live, so you still need a connection to watch or pick.
  • Notifications on iPhone. Safari only sends them to apps on the home screen.

Add Basement to your home screen

Open basement.fun in Safari. Tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen, and confirm. If you opened the link inside another app, such as X or Instagram, open it in Safari first: in-app browsers can't add to the home screen.

On a computer, browsers that can install web apps, such as Chrome and Edge, add Install app to the account menu at the top right of Basement.

When the app asks

After your third visit, or after your first win, a row above the bottom bar may offer "bsmnt on your home screen" with Add. On iPhone, where there's no install button for the app to show, it points to Share › Add to Home Screen instead.

It only asks once per visit, and never over a pick of yours or a result. If you close it, it comes back at most once, a week later.

Turn on notifications after installing

On iPhone, open Basement from the new home-screen icon, then go to Rewards › Notifications. In Safari that row reads "Add to Home Screen first" until you've installed it. See notifications for what Basement sends.
